Before signing up for the Fashion Booth, be sure to conduct market study.

1.       What is the trend for the season?

2.       What are the most things in demand to that particular place?

3.       What are the competitor’s items and price range?

4.       Know how many people may see the fashion bazaar event.

5.       Determine if the Fashion Bazaar Coordinator are able to disseminate the Fashion Event.

6.       Mostly, be prepared FINANCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, AND PHYSICALLY for anything that may happen during the bazaar.

Following pictures are taken from the fashion bazaar I put up in GT Tower, Makati City, Philipines on April 15-19, 2013.

Making 2-Piece Bikini

Animal Print Two-piece Bikini

Animal Print Two-Piece Bikini

Hmm… Making bikini was easy… (As I was thinking before…)

But while doing it, i realized that you should have extra fabric to make a good one with perfect fit.

Fabric I used was a Spandex material, a stretchable fabric good for active moving while still fitting around the body.

Before I discuss trials for making bikini, let me tell you how I started.

  1. Make a bikini swimwear.
  2. Bought spandex fabric.
  3. Get my own bikini and make a pattern out of it.
  4. (Through the help of my father, he taught me how to grade a small, medium, and large pattern. Measurement to consider is the bust point. For Small, Medium, and Large, the bust point is 7, 8-8.5, and 9-10, respectively.)
  5. Cut the fabric and sew it.

Trials I encountered making bikini were

  1. Cutting – since this is stretchable,  i learned that i should consider how far the fabric would stretch.
  2. Sewing – Since I only have regular electric sewing machine, stitches should make it finer or else stitches would hop.  Edging Machine is also a big help since its stitches generally follow fabric stretch. I used edging in straps and fabric edge.
  3. Garter – this is used for fabric support and fit. I cut many garter to know perfect length for every bikini I made.  Even 1/4″ is accountable.

This is all I can share for now.  Still I have so many things to learn making Bikini.  Because every fabric is different even if they are all spandex.  They give different fit, cutting style and sewing technique.

Swimwear Cover Ups Part II

These are my latest collection of swimwear cover ups for 2013 summer in Philippines.

Usually, before you make a dress, you have to start with a design, then put it into pattern, and sew it; but, it’s funny for my case, because I usually start it with fabric, touching it, feeling it, it’s like talking to me.. “I wanted to be like this…”

So the design you see, is what the dress wants to be…

After the dress has been made, or while doing it, pattern is being made.

After pattern making, then i will copy finished dress to my portfolio.

That’s the story behind my design. 😉
